Frequently Asked Questions
Who is South Dakota Ghosts?
We are best known as a group of paranormal investigators dedicated to investigations and research of the paranormal activity. When founded in May of 2004, we knew that it would take time to become a trusted group but also that our research of the clients' places and common sense would become our standard way of thinking. We do not enter into any investigation with hopes of trying to disprove the claims of paranormal activity, we are there to prove the claims and educate our clients in the process
I want to call for help, but I don't want anyone to know. Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. We take our clients confidentiality quite seriously. You determine the level of confidentiality and what we share with our fans
Why should I contact you to come investigate my experiences, especially since I don't want to tell my close friends about it?
Members of SDG understand your concern. We know how hard it can be to talk to complete strangers about what you are experiencing. It is a tough decision to make. We are not here to judge you or your experiences. If you contact us, we can promise you that your case is handled with the strictest of confidentiality.
What should I expect when I contact the team?
Once you contact us our case manager will get in contact you and ask you some preliminary questions about your case. If the case manager cannot resolve the issue, it is then that at this point, a pre-investigation interview is scheduled. The pre-investigation interview entails a meeting with two seasoned investigators; usually the founder and co-founder who will meet with you at you’re the place of haunting. It is their job to evaluate the case and determine the viability of a full investigation, and how many investigators are needed.

Please understand that not every case we investigate is paranormal in nature. We have found that 90% of the cases, there has been the following factors: environmental, structural, chemical, or biological reason for what you have experienced. However, we also don’t want you to feel you have wasted our time or that you as a client aren’t important to us. This is what we do, and our job is to find answers.

This meeting is also your opportunity to ask us questions. We want you to feel comfortable with our practices and us.
Will I be charged for my investigation?
No. All of our services are free of charge. At no time will any member of SDG ask you for money.
Am I allowed to tag along during my investigation?
Yes!! Not only do we encourage you to participate but it allows us to educate you as well! You should never be afraid to be in your own home.

However, if you do wish to take part in the investigation we do request that you don’t tell everyone where we are going to be, to come over and watch. Too many people can contaminate any evidence we collect. We will not be able to investigate under those conditions and will most likely pack up and reschedule for a more convenient time.
When my investigation is scheduled, what can I expect from you?
Prior to the investigation, an investigator will research your property in an effort to uncover any significant historic activity that might be relevant to the case, if none can be found, we will ask you for any history. The investigator will provide this information in a report to the lead investigator and case worker for the final investigative report.

Upon arrival at your home or business, we conduct a safety tour looking for any hazards, we don’t want anyone getting hurt and we don’t want you getting hurt either. The lead investigator will then sit down with you to fill out confidentiality/liability paperwork, this is mandatory to protect those involved. The rest of the team will begin placing equipment in areas where paranormal activity has been reported per the pre-investigation inquiry. We have our own equipment we use and they range from IR (Infrared) cameras, digital video cameras to digital audio recorders for EVPs.

Once satisfied with our setup, we will begin the investigation and that means all lights go out. Our investigators will document readings and attempt to debunk or look for reasonable explanations for the reported activity. Expect the investigation to take at least six hours. It could last longer if we are experiencing activity.

Once our investigations have been satisfied, we will proceed to pack up our equipment and leave your home or business. It usually takes us up to a few days, sometimes a week to review and analyze the evidence collected. Once finished, we will contact you to reveal our findings with a scheduled date. Any evidence collected will become property of South Dakota Ghosts.

**An important note. Any evidence collected by SDG on any investigation becomes the property of SDG and can distribute that evidence in presentations and through social media. However, SDG will not disseminate that evidence if it might reveal a client’s identity.
If there is evidence of activity, will you remove it from the location?
No we do not remove anything from the property. If you wish for it to be removed, we can go along with you to a church and see what they say. However, trying to do this ourselves could result in more severe activity happening, could make it worse and we don’t want that. We find that educating our clients about paranormal activity decreases anxiety.
How do I contact South Dakota Ghosts Paranormal Team?
There are several ways. We are on Facebook, or you can contact us at SDGhosts2018@gmail.com.
If you have any other questions that were not addressed here, please do not hesitate to contact us.
I've had others come in and investigate and they made it worse, how can you help me?
The downfall to having so many paranormal teams coming into your home can be troublesome. It's scary and sometimes frustrating for the client. Worst case scenario is we will come and investigate to see what is the cause. However, we will NEVER investigate a house where the occult resides or has been used. We do not wish to put ourselves in harms way.
